About Twyla Gettert
Twyla's studio is in South Florida. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her paintings including a grant from the E.D. Foundation, NYC, NY. Twyla has been a full-time artist for over twenty years,but began painting at the age of seven. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa. Her studio locations have included: Sonoma County, CA and South Florida.
Her work has been shown in museum exhibitions and also in a network of galleries throughout the U.S. In 2002, and again in 2003, her art was selected for shows in Asia. Sumi-E artists selected for the group show were from the U.S. (only 30 selected), Japan, and Taiwan. Some of Twyla's major works are large-scale paintings on canvas and has included pieces up to fifteen feet in length. Her paintings are collected by both private and corporate art enthusiasts and have been purchased by over 100 corporate and private collectors. Her work has been featured in Florida Architecture Magazine.
She began her career painting in portrait and figurative art, but now works primarily in non-objective abstract and semi-abstract form. She creates in several mediums including painting, monotypes, photography, etchings, Chinese watercolor and acrylic on canvas. Twyla studied Chinese brush painting and calligraphy for over five years. She was also a member of a master printmaking studio for 5 years, where she studied and created in etching and monotype processes.
She specializes in large-scale abstract paintings and has a collection of originals and archival prints available for the individual collector, & can assist designers and architects on corporate, hospitality, and healthcare projects.
